Our nation has always seen a struggle between vegetarianism and non-vegetarianism notwithstanding its multiculturalism. However, the development of social media has intensified the conflict by providing a platform for advocacy and conflict between the parties. Opinions are expressed by both celebrities and common people, which sometimes leads to contentious debates. A similar incident occurred involved Bollywood star Swara Bhaskar and an X user. Swara was so annoyed by the user’s post that she had to reply in the most impolite manner imaginable.

Swara, the actress, married Fahad Ahmad last year, and she celebrates both religions. In the same year, they welcomed Raabiya, a baby girl, as their firstborn. She had previously said that her infant daughter is a “mish-mash” of Andhra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Hindu, and Muslim cultures.

Actress Swara Bhasker attacked a netizen on Monday for bringing up vegetarianism during the significant Muslim holiday of Bakri Eid. Swara disliked the timing of the post and referred to it as “virtue signalling.”
It all began when Nalini Unagar, a food blogger, shared a picture of a vegetarian lunch on her blog. She had fried rice and a plate of cottage cheese for dinner. However, Swara’s description of the picture states that it irritates her. This was what her caption said:
I’m proud to be a vegetarian. My plate is free from tears, cruelty and guilt.
In response, Swara Bhasker commented,
Honestly… I don’t understand this smug self righteousness of vegetarians. Your entire diet is made up of denying the calf its mother’s milk.. forcibly impregnating cows then separating them from their babies & stealing their milk. You eat root vegetables? That kills the whole plant! Please relax with the virtue signalling just because it’s Bakr Eid !
How did people react to Swara’s statement on vegetarianism?
Naturally, there was a range of responses to Swara’s remark in the comments area. Her assertion was endorsed by a large number of people.
