Actress Raveena Tandon has sued Mohsin Shaikh, a self-described social activist and freelance writer, for damages of Rs 100 crore. In a video he uploaded online, he calls her a road rager. A man reported that Raveena beat his mother while intoxicated and that Raveena’s driver had struck her during the altercation in Bandra, Mumbai. Raveena was later exonerated by the police of any misconduct, though.

On June 2, Mohsin Shaikh—who describes himself as a freelance journalist—posted the video on social media.

He posted on Twitter, “Allegations of Assault by #RaveenaTandon & her driver on elderly Woman Incident near Rizvi law college, family Claims that @TandonRaveena was under influence of Alcohol, women have got head injuries, Family is at Khar Police station @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice @mieknathshinde.”

It has been claimed that despite requests to take down the offensive video, the individual has not complied.

Sana Raees Khan, Raveena’s attorney, claimed that Shaikh had circulated untrue rumours about her without any supporting evidence. The attorney went on to say that although CCTV evidence refuted the charges, Shaikh persisted in spreading false information online.

“This false news looks like an attempt to damage Raveena’s reputation,” Khan stated. “To rectify this and guarantee justice, we are pursuing legal action. We back Raveena’s right to pursue damages for the pain these deceptive assertions have caused her.”

Meanwhile, rumours have it that Tandon is getting praise from several institutions for stepping in to defend her driver from a mob attack. The actress was beaten by a mob outside her house, and she even won a courage award in Mumbai.

In her professional life, Raveena has two upcoming films: “Welcome To The Jungle,” starring Akshay Kumar, and the romantic comedy “Ghudchadi,” starring Sanjay Dutt.
