Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers could be back for Royal Challengers Bangalore ‘s next match against Kings XI Punjab on April 10, suggested stand-in skipper Shane Watson after a thrilling win over Delhi Daredevils on Saturday.
Kohli is recovering from a shoulder injury while de Villiers is recuperating from a back injury. Both star batsmen have missed out on RCB’s opening two matches this season.RCB lost the season opener to defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad but held their nerves to overcome a determined Rishabh Pant in their own den.
However, the absence of Kohli and de Villiers continued to hurt RCB. Chris Gayle and Watson are yet to find form and it was only the brilliance of Kedar Jadhav, an eventual man of the match, they helped them post a defendable total.Kohli had earlier batted at the nets and looked to be comfortable after what had once seemed like a pretty serious injury.
At the post – match press conference, Sanjay Manjrekar asked Watson for an update on the RCB batting stars. “They’ll be back in the next match,” came the prompt reply from the former Australian all-rounder.

However, when Manjrekar asked again if this update was from a reliable source, Watson laughed and said, “Probably not.”
Maybe RCB does not want to reveal a lot of their strategies but the indications are there. While Watson kept everyone guessing with his response, RCB loyalists would be eager for both Virat and ABD to come back and take charge of a batting line-up looking for a spark.
