In the latest proceedings of IPL issues, Royale Challengers Bangalore’s superstar AB De Villiers is likely to miss the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League after a back injury forced him to rule out of the final of Momentum One Day Cup, the domestic tournament of South Africa.
With Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s absence in the first few weeks of IPL-10, RCB has named De Villiers as the stand-in captain. Now, the back issue of De Villiers has inflicted much strain to the franchise camp as the tournament is fast approaching.
AB De Villiers injury is confirmed by a tweet of Cricket South Africa where it says, “About to get underway in Centurion. The big team news from either team is that AB De Villiers misses out due to a back injury.”
However, the degree of injury has not been known either from the source of the player or CSA, RCB management is hoping their iconic performer will recover soon to lead the side.
If De Villiers will miss the IPL, he would be among several top performers on earth to have been pulled out of this season’s high-voltage tournament.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli, star batsman Rohit Sharma, Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman all have already been ruled out of the first several games of their respective franchises of IPL-10 due to injury.
Kevin Pietersen, Morne Morkel, Quinton De Cock, Mitchell Marsh and JP Duminy are top ranked performers who are conspicuous by their absence in the tenth edition of the cash-rich tournament.
