Nayan Shah played under-19 cricket from Maharashtra and charged 1.5 lakh as advance for providing information about a pitch. Photographs of a Mumbai pitch were recovered from his mobile. He had contracted from big bookies for the entire IPL series.

In Kanpur, Shah had hired Ramesh Kumar, who was employed at Green Park. Ramesh, who was given Rs 5,000 for watering the pitch, would put excess water on the pitch and make it slow, on the instructions of Nayan. He would then send photos of the pitch to Nayan. Ramesh has already received Rs 20,000 for the job. He is in custody. Also, Read Virat Kohli thanks Audi for upgrading his ride to this ‘stylish beast’: Check Out

The modus operandi of the group was simple: Get the pitch tampered, send the information to bookies across the country, and charge money.

Kanpur police made the breakthrough based on a tip from the anti-corruption unit of BCCI. It suspects Nayan may have managed to get in touch with some players.

Police found that Nayan’s room (9th floor) was changed to the floor (17th) where the management of Gujarat lions was staying. Hotel management says Amisha Patel had to be stationed on the 15th floor so Nayan’s room was changed. Also, Read Mumbai Kids Who Met Justin Bieber Mistook Him As ‘Honey Singh’: Watch
